7 Steps to Extra Cash
We all could use extra money, right? Fortunately there are a handful of proven methods to make $50 a day and I’m here to share what I have found to work!
Over the past few years of my financial journey, I have tried MANY methods to make extra cash in order to invest in my first rental property, max out my RothIRA, and pay off all the debt from my doctoral program.
In this article I will briefly go over some of my top ways that I have been able to earn both active and passive income, totaling $50 or more within a day!
There are many ways to earn money quick, some easier than others. Here are 7 simple ways to earn $50 in a day:
- Survey sites
- Blogging
- Get Paid to Shop!
- Earn Cash by Microinvesting
- Facebook Marketplace
- Drive for Uber or Lyft
- Sell Clothing to Poshmark, Mercari, eBay
1. Survey Sites
By far, survey sites always make #1 on my list for my ways to earn money each day!
It blows my mind that so many people don’t take advantage of these survey apps, especially since they’re SO EASY to use. No joke, I can earn hundreds within a few months in both cash and gift cards – and I don’t have a lot of free time.
I am an Amazon fanatic and I almost always purchase everything off Amazon with the free money that I get from taking surveys!

2. Blogging
This is a hot topic – some people are extremely passionate about blogging, and others get frustrated whenever it is suggested.
All I’m going to say is that I earn over $50 a day from blogging without doing any work. I can go on a roadtrip or vacation and earn money. I can go work my W2 job and come home to extra cash. It’s called passive income and I LOVE IT.

What’s great about niche websites and blogging is that you can put in effort for a few months then get years of profits from that work. It may not work for everyone, but it is definitely work considering!
3. Get Paid to Shop!
Before reading further, open your phone right now and download Ibotta!
Ok really though, if you spend money, there is literally no reason to not use Ibotta! Considering it is so popular, and the fact that I’ve used it for years, I can confidently recommend it as a smart way to save (AND EARN!) cash!
It works by earning you cash when you upload receipts on the app, or flat out giving you rebates for items you regularly buy!

4. Earn Cash by Microinvesting
I am passionate about microinvesting because of how easy it is and the fact that ANYONE can do it!
Microinvesting allows you not only to learn about investing, but does not require all those fancy financial advisors and thousands of dollars.
In fact, there are three investing accounts I use that literally hand out money just so you can learn about investing!
Below are my three favorite apps for microinvesting: Robinhood, Acorns, and Stash. All three offer free cash or stocks and referral programs that can earn you tons more!
Robinhood
Robinhood has grown to be a leader in mobile investing, with a simplified layout and countless happy users. The app is free and with our link below you can get a free stock in order to watch it grow and learn about the stock market!
It is a perfect place to start for it is easy to use, beginner friendly, and FREE. What’s not to love?

Acorns
This app has become a new favorite! Acorns, makes the “saving and investing” process 10x simpler than any other option out there.
At the cost of $1/month, it’s a simplified way to save and invest money, with the minimum of $5 to invest. Their “Round Up” tool allows you to save cash without even thinking about it – then, you can easily invest $5 or more in fractional shares within the same app!

Stash
One of the most revolutionary apps out there is Stash, and it’s quickly proving itself to be a top contender for investing apps!
Unlike the other two apps, Stash gives the option to invest in not only stocks but also ETFs and bonds. It’s also an innovative option with the opportunity to invest in fractional shares, but gives you even more options to invest than the other apps.

5. Facebook Marketplace
If you’re looking for a way to make cash quick, this is probably the fastest of them all.
I’ve earned off Marketplace in two ways:
- Sell items that you already own
- Sell items that you create
For example, my husband has sold college textbooks, calculators, tools, lawn mowers, and furniture off Marketplace. You can sell items within hours.
If you don’t have items to sell, I’ve seen people buy items at garage sales and resell for a higher price on Marketplace.
Another option is to create items to sell. Woodwork is popular, for example. Think of something that is both quick and cheap to make – but has a high value to people. Scroll through Marketplace to get ideas!
6. Drive for Uber or Lyft
I know SO MANY people who are driving for Uber, Lyft, or food delivery companies like DoorDash.
It’s a way to make cash during your free time! I’ve heard of people earning hundreds in a day!

At around $19/hour, you can earn yourself far more than $50 in an evening!
7. Sell clothing to Poshmark, Mercari, eBay
If you have some extra time on your hands, consider selling items on a popular resell website!
I’ve heard of plenty of people who buy items on discount, like at a thrift store, and resell on a site like eBay and make big profits.
This is a great option if you want to earn quick cash and have access to stores nearby (or, if you have tons of junk around your home!).
Here are the top websites to sell items on:
- Mercari: Sell any items from clothes to jewelry to electronics (Mercari takes 10% of profits)
- Poshmark: Sell clothing online or through their app (Poshmark takes 20% of profits)
- eBay: Sell almost anything (eBay takes around 10% of profits)
Hopefully this list gives you some fresh ideas for making some extra cash today! Some are immediate while others take a bit more preparation, but all are great options to earn over $50 in a day!
Selling stuff we don’t need or use anymore is probably on the top of my list.
Then, the blogging. Probably one of the things I like the most and I hope I would get along with. Doing it more and more feels better and better with time and I hope it will bring me something back.
