5 ways to improve Your website
As you probably know, blogging is a continual process! You are always learning, always adapting, and always trying new methods.
Now, updating your blog can come in numerous forms. Maybe you just want to change your blog’s theme. Maybe you want to figure out what you need to do to finally bring in readers and monetize.
Unfortunately, there are just too many topics to address in this article, but be sure to check out the list of articles at the top of this post!
With all that said, this past year we’ve gone through many changes, big and small.
From color palatte changes, to entire design efforts, to rehauling our monetization methods, we’ve done a ton.
What we also found was that there weren’t many articles out there that were both helpful and to the point, for us new bloggers.
We kept getting swept up into people’s affiliate marketing, and attempts to make money off of us just trying to learn!
The thing with blogging is that you can never stop until you figure out what works.
That can literally take months!
I know, that’s no fun to hear, but we’ve made it far past the dreaded “3 month hump” and have finally entered the fun side of blogging!
Instead of throwing in our whole blogging history fluff, we just want to go straight to the good stuff! Since the majority of our readers are returning, we don’t want to bore you with all that jabber.
(Plus, you can always go to our other articles and learn more about our blog and all our tips and tricks!!)
5. Add and Remove Pinterest Group Boards Regularly
Let’s start this list with a unique piece of advice that is rare to come across!
Every 3 months, re-evaluate if your Pinterest group boards and Tailwind Tribes are working in your benefit.
Get out of boards whose owner has stopped blogging, and join new boards. Don’t waste your time with pinning on inactive boards! Same for Tailwind Tribes – there is no harm with leaving and joining new boards!
What does that mean?
Blogging is very fast-paced, and unfortunately, not everyone is able to keep up.
That being said, all those group boards you joined 6 months ago are very likely to contain followers that aren’t active anymore. Most bloggers die out before the “3 month hump” and so there aren’t new followers or potential for more.
Now, this is primarily talking about Pinterest group boards, so what about Tailwind Tribes?
For those of you who don’t know, Tailwind is the secret to how bloggers are able to reach hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of readers.
You post your pins within “Tribes”, which are essentially group boards, and the members within the Tribes can repin your pins.
It’s a more effective way to get your pins onto boards that are growing, and to diversify and grow your own follower base!
But, both Pinterest and Tailwind are essential for blogging nowadays. Pinterest is practically required, while Tailwind is highly recommended by every successful blogger out there!
So, outside of using Tailwind, this method was this single most effective way for us to start getting more followers on Pinterest! For our first 6 months, we usually got around 30 organic followers a week, and after starting this, we’d average about 90 new followers a week, and now are up to 100.
That means around 100 people find our content or boards, follow our profile, and are potential readers for each article we post.
That’s over 5000 organic followers a year!
Now, imagine adding that to other methods to gain followers and you’ve got a ton of potential traffic on your hands!

4. Spend 1 Day a Month Updating Blog Posts
Sounds boring, but this is a critical part of being a blogger!
And, unfortunately, not many do it!
If you want to be a successful blogger, you will always be looking for better affiliates, better styles of writing, better templates for articles, and so forth.
As you write more articles, the ones you wrote way back in your beginning days will start looking less professional and not fit in with your popular articles.
Here is a list of ways you can update your blog posts each month!:
- Add in recent/new affiliate links in older posts
- Always check for [grammatical] or spelling errors
- Change any expired or irrelevant links
- For example: Have you ever put in something like, “Sign up by X date”? Update those posts!
3. Read 1 Blogging or Business Book Every Month
We can’t emphasize this enough!
Okay, we get it. Reading is boring. It takes time and thinking.
But, you guys, there is SO MUCH TO LEARN from books that can skyrocket your blog’s success!
Instead of trying to convince you to pick up a book and start learning, we created a list of our favorite books for all you ladypreneurs out there!
And don’t forget, you don’t have to spend a fortune on books! Check out these ways to learn for cheap!:
- Audiobooks are less expensive, and allow you to learn while on the go!
- Ebooks are always a great alternative, partially because they are cheap, and you can read anywhere!
- No money? No prob! Go to your library to rent books for free! (Most libraries have digital subscriptions too, where you can rent ebooks!)
2. Ask Your Readers For Post Recommendations
This piece of advice comes from my favorite course for new bloggers by Create and Go!
The idea is that you should be in contact with your readers, and personalize your blog to their wants!
So, how can you do this?
If you have a blog, hopefully you’ve set up an email service like MailChimp, and send out emails to your subscribers.
Now, the piece of advice that is most critical is this: Every 10 articles (or, once a month) you post, send a “feeler” out to your subscribers. Below are some ideas!
- Create a poll for your readers to choose what their favorite article was
- Ask for them to make a comment on their favorite article with ideas/constructive feedback/suggestions
- Request article topic suggestions
By doing this, not only will you get your reader engaged, but you will also get primary feedback about what your audience really cares to read about!
Then, adjust for the next month and repeat! You should always keep tailoring your content to your readers!
1. Set Short and Long-Term Goals
Alex and Lauren, from the popular Launch Your Blog course, are great examples of implementing this method!
Writing goals should be part of your normal life, whether related to blogging or not!
Now, before you roll your eyes and think, “Yeah, yeah. Old news.”, we really want to emphasize how important goals are, to keep your blog running.
Every self-help author talks about goal setting!
When you sit down and list out how you want your life to look like in the next month, 6 months, year, 5 years…it gets difficult.
We start telling ourselves that we are unrealistic. We tell ourselves that we cannot achieve those dreams.
Goal setting ties right into you bringing abundance into your life! If believe it can’t happen, chances are, it won’t.
So, we challenge you to do one, small, goal setting task today!
If you are on your phone, pull up your note taking app. If you are on your computer, tear out a small piece of paper.
Write down answers to the following long-term statements:
- In 1 year, I will be earning $______ a month from my blog!
- In 6 months I will increase my (insert your main social media platform) followers to ______ !
- In the next 6 months, I will write ____ guest posts for my favorite blogs!
- In 1 year, I plan to have written _____ articles on my blog!
Then, let’s look at what you can do in the short-term to achieve those goals!
Write down the following statements, and fill in the blanks:
- This month, I will _______ (ex. read 1 book, write X posts, join X affiliate) to improve my blog.
- This week I will reach out to my followers by _______.
- Today, I want to learn about ______ so I can become a successful blogger!
- By the end of this month, I plan to make $______ by my blog.
Let’s Summarize!
You are on an awesome journey!
But, it is so important that you keep finding ways to improve, change, and adapt your blog. There are tons of ways to work on your blogging success, and we hope you got a few tips from this article!
